Jayn Avery is a self-taught potter/sculptor/writer, a devotee of simple living and flower gardens. Her love for clay gives respite from the necessity of words. Her love for words gives respite from the necessities of a labor-intensive lifestyle. What clay and words have in common is their capacity to take shape: their fluidity, their texture, their response to touch-of hand or mind. Jayn's relationship to both mediums reflects her relationship to the natural world. She has published here and there and recited poetry 'round about.
